Glasner will depart Palace at the end of the current campaign. When Crystal Palace won the 2025 FA Cup, Oliver Glasner guided them to their first significant prize.

Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has said that he will depart the team when his contract ends at the end of the current campaign.

After leading the Eagles to their first major prize when they defeated Manchester City to win the FA Cup last season, the 51-year-old Austrian will go as a Palace legend.

After they defeated Liverpool on penalties in August’s Community Shield, Glasner also led Palace in this season’s Conference League, their first major European competition.

BBC Sport was informed by sources Glasner stated on Friday that he had told chairman Steve Parish he would not sign a new contract in October, despite having been given a new one last summer.

Marc Guehi, the captain of Palace, is reportedly getting closer to joining Manchester City, despite Glasner’s insistence that his departure was unrelated to transfer choices.

“Months ago, a choice was made. During the international break in October, I met with Steve [Parish],” Glasner remarked.

“After a lengthy conversation, I informed him that I would not be signing a new contract. At the time, we decided it would be better to keep it between ourselves. That’s the best we could do, and we’ll keep it private for three months. However, it’s crucial to have clarity now, and we didn’t want to discuss it because of our hectic schedules. Steve and I hope Crystal Palace succeeds.

When the Eagles were 15th in the Premier League in February 2024, Glasner, a former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, took Roy Hodgson’s position at Palace.

Before the Eagles finished 12th in his first full season in command and won the FA Cup, he guided them to a 10th-place finish.

The south London team is now 13th in the league and has lost nine straight games in all competitions, including a shocking FA Cup loss to non-league Macclesfield. Glasner made this declaration.

They will meet Bosnian club Zrinjski in the play-off round for a spot in the round of sixteen after finishing tenth in the Conference League league phase.

Glasner is still regarded highly despite Palace’s recent bad performance, and rumors have connected him to the Manchester United manager position.

“I’m just looking for a new challenge,” stated the man.

“I haven’t talked to any other team, but I assured the players today that I would do all in my power to provide the greatest season and point total in Crystal Palace’s history.

“We are now four points better off than we were at this stage of the season and we will do everything to bring another trophy back to Selhurst Park.”
